Today’s forecast had a 50% chance of rain; I wore shoes instead of sandals to work, just in case it actually rained during the day. I needed to test drive a pair of oxfords anyway. At 77 degrees Fahrenheit, it was technically still too warm for them—but I didn’t want to rip them off and burn them when I got home, so I’m counting it as a successful test drive.
I haven’t looked at tomorrow’s forecast, and I’m hoping that it’s a little warmer. I don’t care for hot weather but I’m not ready for summer to be over yet; I just want a few more days. If the last few days of summer felt like summer instead of fall, that would be great. We had a spell of cool weather almost a month ago now, and it felt like fall then. Every cool day we’ve had over the last month has felt like fall. I’ve been waking up in the dark already, for a while. I don’t know if this says anything about what kind of winter we’re going to have.
It could be a totally average start to the season. I’m just not looking forward to waking up and driving home in the dark, so every day with a minute less of daylight feels like impending loss.
I’m also wondering if I’ll still be wearing sandals in October again this year...
